WHAT is ReCandle?
ReCandle is a family-owned business based in Texas that makes eco-friendly candles from recycled wax. We believe that everything that can be recycled, should be recycled.
We take scrap wax and turn it into new candles.
Since January 2008, ReCandle has kept more than 6 tons of discarded materials out of local landfills through recycling.
Many of the candles bought in the U.S. are manufactured overseas from raw materials and imported. Some aren't strongly scented, don't burn well, and leave a lot of wax after burning.
At ReCandle, hundreds of pounds of discarded candles, scrap wax and candle containers come into our small but efficient studio. Our wax is locally sourced from several different suppliers, many of which are non-profit charities. The wax is harvested from the containers (re-using the containers if possible), sorted by color, melted, filtered, triple-scented and hand-poured into re-purposed glass, crystal or art glass rescued from thrift stores, estate, garage and yard sales. It’s a family, friend and neighborhood effort.

ReCandle votives, pillars and container candles are blended by hand and poured in very small batches. Each candle, pillar and votive that leaves the studio contains more than 50% post-consumer recycled wax, blended with renewable and sustainable waxes, like soy and palm.

ReCandles leave minimal wax and a container that can be re-used, re-purposed or recycled. Recandle products are the best example of “upcycling” – they’re recycled AND recyclable!
ReCandle celebrates recycling in all its forms, using recycled materials in the handcrafting process in the studio, keeping packaging to a minimum and using second-generation materials for shipping.
WHO is ReCandle?
ReCandle was founded by me, Cynthia Homsher. I’m a native Texan, married to the love of my life, mother to four active children and caretaker to a parade of pets. As a mother, I’m concerned about our disposable society and the damage that it causes the environment. Our family recycles everything possible, from glass, plastic, paper and metal to composting vegetable waste in the backyard.
In 2007, my enthusiasm for candles and recycling inspired me to develop this unique process for transforming discarded materials destined for the landfill into beautiful, unique and deeply scented candles.
In 2009, ReCandle became more than a hobby with the launch of an independent e-commerce website. Now, friends and fans locally and across the U.S. have access to our incredibly unique, quality scented container candles, pillar candles and votive candles.
WHERE is ReCandle?

WHY buy ReCandle?
Each pour is unique, each batch is time-consuming and labor intensive – there are no shortcuts. Each ReCandle creation is a labor of love and a small work of art.
